Author Guidelines

International Journal of African Language and Media Studies (IJALMS) is a peer-reviewed, open-access journal dedicated to publishing high-quality research in African languages, media, and communication studies. Authors are encouraged to submit original research articles, theoretical papers, or methodological studies that are not under consideration elsewhere.

  1. Title: Concise and informative.
  2. Abstract: 150–250 words summarizing objectives, methodology, key findings, and implications.
  3. Keywords: 4–6 relevant terms.
  4. Introduction: Context, problem statement, and research objectives.
  5. Literature Review: Summary of relevant studies and theoretical framework.
  6. Methodology: Research design, data collection, and analysis methods.
  7. Results/Findings: Clear presentation of data or research outcomes.
  8. Discussion: Interpretation of findings in context of existing research.
  9. Conclusion and Recommendations: Summarize contributions and implications.
  10. References: Use APA 7th edition citation style.

3. Formatting Guidelines

  • Font: Times New Roman, 12 pt
  • Spacing: Double-spaced
  • Margins: 1 inch (2.54 cm) on all sides
  • Length: Original research articles: 5,000–8,000 words; short communications: 2,000–4,000 words
  • Tables and Figures: Numbered consecutively and cited in text; captions below figures and above tables

4. Ethical Considerations

  • Manuscripts must be original and unpublished
  • Plagiarism checks are mandatory
  • Proper consent required for studies involving human participants

  • Double-blind peer review
  • Evaluation based on originality, scholarly quality, methodological rigor, and contribution to the field
  • Authors may be asked to revise and resubmit

6. Copyright and Licensing

  • Published under an open-access license
  • Authors retain copyright while granting IJALMS the right to publish and distribute the work

7. DOI and Indexing

  • All accepted manuscripts receive a Digital Object Identifier (DOI)
  • Indexed in Google Scholar, OpenAIRE, Zenodo, ScienceGate, CrossRef, Web of Science, Academia.edu, and PKP
